Question:
Why do I get the following message? -- "QUIT LEECHING!
Bad Referrer"
Answer:
Leeching - To steal, or barrow bandwidth from someone else
without them knowing about it. File Leeching is a common problem
for webmasters and a costly one when someone does it. When you
leech from File Retreat, you are basically stealing from us and
that is illegal. We will press charges if you try to leech files
from us. So please consult with us if you have any questions.
In
order to NOT receive this type of message you need to A. left
mouse click the "Download Now" link, B. Click the "HERE"
link if you have a problem with the download. Those are the only
two ways to download files from us.
Another cause for the leeching message is that you are using a
browser other than Internet Explorer and or Netscape. We recommend
that you use either of these Internet browsers so that you will
get a better experience with File Retreat and the 3d Retreat network.
Also
if you use Norton 2002 Internet Security or similar programs you
will also get the "Leeching" error. To prevent from
getting this error, "disable" or "turn off"
your "security programs while your downloading from File
Retreat, thus letting you get the file without any errors.
If
you would like to use File Retreat on your own webpage then please
contact Snicker.

Question:
Why can't I use a 3rd party downloader such as Download Accelerator?
Answer:
Please don't complain about not being able to download files from File
Retreat using a 3rd party downloader such as Download Accelerator. It
is a small price to pay but it keeps the servers fast & secure.
We apologize for the people with slower connections and use this type
of 3rd party software.

Question:
Why is the download slow?
Answer:
This can be caused by several things.
A. You're connection is slow. (14.4k modem, 56k modem)
B. You're connection to us is slow. (bad ping times)
C. We are getting allot of requests from the server.
The
server is on a T3 connection so in basic terms there will be an unlimited
supply of bandwidth to you the client as your connection can will allow.

Question:
Why was my File Submission Rejected?
Answer:
There are several reasons as to why your file submission may have
been rejected!
1.)
We could not download the file from the server/location you have
given us, therefor it was deleted. When giving the exact location
of the file please make sure the link works for a few days so
we are able to download the file.
2.)
Accidently... Accidents do happen and if you think it was rejected
out of an accident on are part, please re submit it and put in
the "Additional Info" that this file was already submitted,
but you the submitter believe it was rejected by accident. If
this is true we apologize.
3.)
The file was already in the database and therefor we don't need
2 submission of the same file.
4.)
Not a file that we keep in are database, or the file is not appripriate
so it was deleted and rejected.

Question:
I need help updating my Video or Sound Card drivers.
Answer:
The reference drivers, or drivers available from the manufacturer
of the chipset on your video card or sound card, often provide the most
stable performance. If you do not know your video card's chipset, please
contact the manufacturer of your card for chipset information.
To
install Video/Sound Card drivers you need to do the following:
Video Drivers Installation:
You should have already downloaded the correct driver for your video
card. If your using a NVIDIA based video card I would recommend you
downloading the Detanator drivers from NVIDIA.
Right Click desktop-->Properties-->Settings Tab-->Advanced
Button-->Adapter Tab-->
Properties Button-->Driver Tab-->Update Driver Button.
From
here you following the instructions and then browse to where you downloaded
the drivers and the drivers will install and then you will need to
reboot.
Sound
Card Driver Installation:
You should have already downloaded the correct driver for
your sound card. If you have a creative based card or any other type,
I would suggest you reinstall the software that came with the CD,
and then download an upgraded driver for the car if you need too.
Right
Click "My Computer"-->Properties-->Device Manager
Tab-->Sound and Video Game Controls
From
here you will select your sound car and then do the following:
Right
Click high lighted sound card-->Properties-->Driver Tab-->Update
Driver.
From
here you following the instructions and then browse to where you downloaded
the drivers and the drivers will install and then you will need to
reboot.
